Now I’m no expert. I never claim to be. I have placed some bets in Vegas and for the most part, done okay. I believe you should bet logically, and only for fun. Never bet more than you can comfortably lose. That being said, I find it amusing to read some of the mailings I receive from the so called “experts” from various online gambling sites (once they get your name, you can expect a steady stream of promotional emails and magazines from these

Some of the sites’ cash cows are actually their online card game gambling programs, like Black Jack and Texas Hold ‘em. However luring you in during football season with promotional materials is a great way for you to get acquainted with their site. If you already have credit in an account on one online gambling site, you are far more likely to play poker there than you would be to go to another online gambling site.

So back to the magazines… be wary of their so called “experts.” I received one the other day from an online gambling site with breakdowns of every college and pro football team. I prefer my analysis from espn or foxsports, or even better, from watching the games! However, I was curious, so I opened it up and flipped to the college section to see what they had to see about Purdue. First, they REPEATEDLY referred to Purdue’s QB Curtis Painter as “Curtis Palmer.” They didn’t just do this once. A typo is forgivable, but when you repeatedly refer to Purdue’s QB as “Curtis Palmer,” then you must believe Purdue’s QB is a guy named “Curtis Palmer!” If you don’t know the team’s quarterback’s name, I don’t think I want to be taking any gambling advice from you. Stick you your online blackjack programs. On top of it, the only receive they mentioned was Kyle Ingraham. Keep in mind I just received this a couple of days ago. Anyway, they claimed that Purdue will be relying heavily on top receiver Kyle Ingraham. For those of you who don’t know, Kyle Ingraham is a big, tall, slow white guy. He’s also academically ineligible. One of Purdue’s biggest strengths is its receiving corps. Even if Ingraham were playing this season, he would at best be Curtis Painter’s… oh, sorry…Curtis PALMER’s number 5 target behind Dorien Bryant, Greg Orton, Selwyn Lymon, and Dustin Keller. Well, at least they got his name right. A game of online Texas Hold’em anyone?
