| The colts have defeated the ravens with a blowout win over baltimore ravens for the divisional championship. Thats what I'll be saying after this weekend of the 13th. A saturday game again 2 weeks in a row. It'll be a good drinkin day for the victory against the ravens. Manning will pelt those ugly crows with his laser rocket arm.... |

I like the Brian Billick-led Ravens and their big-time QB Steve McNair over the Colts who never seem to manage to make it past this point in the playoffs. Besides, Tony Dungy is going to take the University of Minnesota job, so he's mailing it in.
Addai-os!

Dungy won't take the Minnesota job. He's already said he wouldn't. I
know that's what he's supposed to say, but I believe him. It would be a
terrible career move. He'd be taking a major step backwards. He's a
premiere coach, and they love him in Indy. His work here isn't finished
yet, and he knows it.
Colts 24-10. |

Yes...just like Bobby Petrino at Louisville signed a ten year extension and then promptly bolted for Atlanta...
Just like Nick Saban swore he was staying in Miami and abrutply about-faced to Alabama.
I preferred Jim Mora Jr.'s strategy of telling a Washington radio station he was interested in the University of Washington job a) while Washington still had a coach and b) while Mora himself was still employed with the Falcons. It was perverse and got him fired, but it was honest.

|

I understand what you’re saying, but there are a couple of key differences here.
1. Tony Dungy is a man of integrity. Maybe Saban and Petrino are as well, but the point is I believe Tony Dungy and take him at his word. Remember this is the man who was given the bum’s rush out of Tampa Bay so they could bring in Chucky. I believe loyalty is important to Dungy.
2. I’d be more concerned about him jumping ship if he were working for a college team and had a job offer in the NFL. It’s FAR more common for a college coach to take an opportunity in the pros than for an NFL head coach to take a college job. For most coaches, an NFL head coaching gig is the ultimate goal.
Personally, I’d like to see a coach tell his players “I love it here and will likely stay here, but if they offer me 2 or 3 times what I’m making here, I’d be crazy not to take it.” Doesn’t exactly convey extreme loyalty, but isn’t that what it boils down to in the end? Don’t most players know that that is the case? |
