For those of you who haven't heard, former All-Star Cubs closer Rod "Shooter" Beck died yesterday at the age of 38. By all acounts from other players and sports writers in what I've been reading about this today, he was a standup guy who was liked by all. You've gotta love that nickname, too.

He was a 3 time All-Star and saved 51 games for the Cubs in 1998. As of now, I can't find any information on how he died. I'll post again if I hear anything.

Rest in peace, Shooter. You'll be missed.

The police found evidence of and paraphernelia in his home. The officially cause of his has yet to be released to the public, but it seems like there's little doubt that it was releated.
