Drew Brees sues his mom!!!

Actually, he just threatened to sue her. This is the funniest news story I’ve seen out of the NFL in awhile. Apparently, Brees’s mom, Mina Brees, is running for a seat on the Texas court of appeals. She has been running ads featuring her son, in which she says "I'm a football fan, and I have to be. Marty Akins is my brother, and Drew Brees is my son. But there's one difference between him and me, I want to sit on the bench."

Three things here:
1. That’s just a terrible line. Really.
2. From a political standpoint, this is horrible. There is no political message her. She says nothing about her qualifications, why she’s running, or what she wants to do with the position. She’s just saying “Vote for me because I’m Drew Brees’s mom!” An ad like that should only make people vote against her.
3. Most importantly, this is exactly what Drew Brees had asked her NOT to do – use him in her political campaigns. She went out and did it anyway, so he had his agent threaten to sue.

Snooping around online, there are numerous reports out there that Drew Brees hates his mom, and the two really don’t communicate, stemming from an incident from 6 years ago. I was unable to find out what this was. If anyone knows, please chime in.
At a glance, this story might seem ridiculous; a rich athlete has his agent threaten his own mother with a lawsuit. It doesn’t exactly cast Drew Brees in a flattering light. Once you get the details though, it seems justified… necessary even. Doesn’t exactly cast Mina Brees in a good light. I certainly wouldn’t vote for her.

It looks like there will be no lawsuit though. Mina has agreed to change the ads, and use Drew’s brother Reed, who was a baseball star at Baylor.
