The Colts will beat the Ravens. I think the Patriots will upset the
Chargers too. A lot of youth and inexperience versus a team that knows
how to get it done when it matters. They will game plan for LT, and
Phillip Rivers will not beat them. That would actually put the AFC
Championship game in Indy, which would be nice. Barring injuries to the
defense, Colts win that one.
NFC? I don't think it will be the Bears. I love them and want them to
do well, but I think they're a bit of a fraud. They had the weakest
schedule in the NFL, so their record is misleading. Grossman falls apart
under pressure, and the defense alone won't bail them out in the
playoffs. They might get by Seattle, but that is where the road will end.

Colts and Saints in the Super Bowl.

It's still hard to bet against Belicheck in the playoffs, so I go with Patriots over Martyball and then the Ravens over the Colts. I want the Colts to win, but the Ravens' offense has been greatly improved since Billick fired Jim Fassel and started calling the plays himself. Plus, McNair is a big-stage player. Finally, Billick vs. Belicheck (four Super Bowl rings since 2001) is too much to pass up.

Then, I take the Bears over the Seahawks and their weakened secondary and the Eagles over the Saints. The Eagles are playing with too much gutbone and dirt to lose to the feel-good Saints. Andy Reid is not a feel-good guy. He hasn't smiled in fourteen years and when he wants to lighten up, he listens to Nine Inch Nails and Marilyn Manson. He doesn't just want to win; he wants Drew Brees' head on a pike.

Head on a pike?!? I am reminded of Bugs Bunny's horrified repitition "My spurting blood?!?" when Elmer Fudd told him "Come out of there rabbit. I want to see the color of your spurting blood!" That seemed pretty dark for a Bugs Bunny cartoon.

Anyway, to the business at hand -
McNair lacks a "big play" receiver, and they lack a quality running
game. You could make the injury case for any QB, but as injury prone as
McNair is, the Ravens are only one big hit from Kyle Boller. With the
Colts pass rush and defensive ends, this could prove to be the case
rather easily.

The Colts are playing well. They are confident, and the defense is on
an all-time high, as they finally proved they could stop the run and
play well. That confidence is going to carry over into the Baltimore
game.
The Colts WILL score on that Baltimore defense. The question is, will
Baltimore score enough against the Colts? I don't see it happening.

The Saints are more than a "feel good" story. They're a damn good team,
with a decent o-line, a solid defense, big play receivers, two top notch
running backs, and one of the best QBs in the NFL. Garcia will not be
able to skipper the Eagles catamaran to the promised land. Andy Reid is a good coach, but it takes more than that. A QB helps too.

Bears might get past Seattle, but that's where the road ends.

Hey! Nice analysis and predictions for today's games, Friar Kel! Did you also take Germany in WWII, Jim Bowie (minus the points) at the Alamo, and the XFL to overtake the NFL???

You couldn't outpick your mother on the pickinest day of your life with an automatic pickin' machine!

Bad Saturday, but good Sunday. 2-2 is fine with me. I missed the Indy game by quite a bit, but the Saints barely snuck by the Eagles. My Colts vs. Patriots Super Bowl pick is still alive.
