Joe Tiller was on a local sports talk program earlier today (JMV - The Drive). The question was raised whether it would hurt Purdue to lose the 5 coaches they are losing. I was very happy to hear that Tiller isn't concerned about it, and believes he has the best coaching staff he has had since his 1997 staff. 3 of those guys are head coaches now, 3 are coordinators, and 3 went on to the NFL. Sounds like some good company to be in.

Cubfan I agree with your assessment. I believe the coach when he says that his staff is stronger now than it has been the past few years. He picked up one of the best quarterback coaches in the country in Ed Zaunbrecher (sp?).

I like the idea of pairing up Curtis Painter, who's clearly a talented kid (we got to see some of that towards the end of last season) with a QB coach who can take him to the next level. I fully expect him to exceed Kyle Orton. Dare I think he might reach the level of a Drew Brees? If Kory Sheets can open force defenses to respect the run enough, that will open it up for him. With receivers like he has this year, Dorein Bryant, Selwyn Lymon, and Greg Orton, you have to like the possibilites... especially when coupled with an O-line that's the best we've had since the Drew Brees Rose-Bowl year. Remember that line? 4 of the 5 got drafted.

Of course... on the other side of the ball...
