There have been some very surprising cuts this preseason. Some just due to a players college career and where he was drafted, others due to a teams needs. The Broncos cut Ron Dayne and look to be starting an undrafted rookie at running back. Ron Dayne is a former Heimann Trophy winner. The Lions cut wide receiver Charles Rogers, the #2 overall draft pick in 2003. The Saints cut Zach Hilton, a big tight end with good hands. Surprising as most analysts seemed pretty high on the guy, and Drew Brees loves to throw to his tight ends. It took about a day for the Jets to sign him. The Colts cut veteran QB Shaun King. Not surprising in itself, but shocking because they're going with only Peyton Manning and Jim Sorgi on the roster, and Sorgi was roughed up in the preseason and out for a few games.
