I live in Indy, and I love the Colts. I was, and still am, thrilled that we are getting a new stadium with a retractable roof and are keeping our team.
Today on talk radio I hear that the officials are saying that the state will raise enough money to build the stadium, but not enough to run it, estimating that it will cost $10 million more per season to operate than the RCA dome.
Wow. You're kidding me. How does THAT slip by initial planning? You'd think that's the sort of thing you'd be aware of before you ever broke ground.
Again, I want the stadium and the Colts, and believe the city NEEDS the Colts, but I'm a little annoyed. I'm guessing the extra revenue will come in the form of taxes. The extra 2% on the restaurant bill doesn't dissuade me from going out, but if you keep taking it on, it will.
I hope the city can find a way without resorting to new taxes. |
